Not Your Typical Wedding Vicar

Gary and Tracy Richardson wanted something different for their June 15, 2013, wedding.  Not too different.  They still wanted tradition, but something modern too.

Do you ever feel that way about your wedding?  Wondering what to do?  How to make it modern without losing the tradition?  Well maybe you should ask your Reverend!

Reverend Kate Bottley is not your ho-hum, stick-in-the-mud wedding officiant!  She recommended a flash mob for Gary and Tracy’s wedding.  The result is sure to make you smile.

How did the flash mob come to be?  As Gary, the groom, explains it

Whilst planning our wedding we knew we wanted something a bit different. Upholding tradition but with a modern twist. So when our incredibly accommodating and inspiring Vicar, Reverend Kate Bottley of St Mary and St Martin’s, Blyth, suggested a ‘flash mob’, we were sold!

Armed with our choreographer – Dawn Cherry and Musical Director – Nigel Solway (both of whom are part of ‘Blucrew’, a fundraising group for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Nr Sheffield) and along with 28 of our family and friends, we set about rehearsals to create something unique and that would bring our service to life.

It took a bit of work and rehearsals to pull it off, but what a fun way to prepare for the wedding.

Our most sincere congratulations to Tracy and Gary.  May your life together as husband and wife be as imaginative and lighthearted as your wedding.

What makes us giggle the most is the way the Vicar busts a move at the end and then solemnly says, “Let us pray.”  What a fun, sincere, and modern Vicar!
