Congratulations to Keira Knightley and James Righton on their May 5th wedding in Provence, France!
In a chic Bohemian style, the couple kept the wedding small and intimate. They married at the town hall of La Mairie, with only 11 guests and attendants. Keira even wore one of the dresses she has owned and enjoyed for several years — a short, white, strapless tulle number — accentuated with a Chanel jacket and ballet flats. She wore daisies in her hair and a radiant glow in her countenance.
DailyMail says the couple could “barely contain their excitement” and that the bride wore a “beaming smile.” Keira even skipped her way down the aisle. No stunning gown or gorgeous decor can compare to the glow of a radiantly joyful bride!
The simplicity of this low-key wedding begs the question: Why was the ceremony so practical when the couple could easily afford the most extraordinary of events?
CelebrityFix suggests that the wedding was simple because Keira is trying to force herself to live simply and frugally. Her take-home pay last year was just $41,000.
Other celebrities have imposed paycuts on themselves for the same purpose. Rich Mullins for example, Christian singer and songwriter, insisted on receiving only the average salary in the US. Everything else he gave to charity. Perhaps Keira is doing the same…or perhaps she is saving or investing the rest.
Who knows? But it doesn’t really matter. The low-budget wedding was over the top with pure joy.
Just goes to show that it’s not the posh pomp that makes the day special. It’s the special-ness of the day that makes all the details beautiful.
