Like it or not, same-sex weddings are now legal in the US. And in the politically correct spirit of tolerance for those things which are now legal and legitimized, but used to be officially looked down upon, the White House is lighting up the news wires with a story that has some people aghast and others applauding.
Monday afternoon, US Vice President Joe Biden officiated his first ever wedding ceremony for two long-time White House staff members.

As VP Biden tweeted after the ceremony, “Proud to marry Brian and Joe at my house. Couldn’t be happier, two longtime White House staffers, two great guys.”
Biden’s wife, Dr. Jill Biden, responded with the tweet, “Love is love!”
According to the Huffington Post:
The marriage of Brian Mosteller and Joe Mahshie was the first time Biden officiated a ceremony, the vice president’s office told CNN in a statement. Biden obtained a temporary certification from the District of Columbia.
Mosteller serves as special assistant to the president and director of Oval Office operations. Mahshie is a trip coordinator for Michelle Obama, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The wedding was attended only by the immediate family, NBC reported. The ceremony took place at the vice president’s residence on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory in Northwest Washington.
What do you think?
Do you suppose this story would have mustered so much interest or support if two heterosexual DC law enforcement officers had asked Joe Biden to officiate their wedding ceremony? Just curious…
